Course description: Do you have a trip planned to France and wish to learn enough French to be comfortable ordering in a restaurant, getting around, and asking for information? These informative yet relaxed classes are for you!
The course is split into two: French for Travelers I can stand alone; for the student eager for more, French for Travelers II provides a more complete learning experience.
While the course is designed with the traveler in mind, it is suitable for anyone wishing to have an introduction to the French language and the culture of France.
We will cover basic verb conjugations, vocabulary and phrases which are especially useful when traveling, and how to ask simple questions. We will talk about some cultural differences between the French and Americans, so that you might have greater understanding (and blend in better!) when you travel.
We will also talk about some of the different regions of France, points of interest, and food and beverage!
Class size is limited to 6 students. Please register for Part I by Jan. 6, 2025.
Instructor: Laura Martin, M.A., French & Francophone Studies | Concentrations in Art History & in Classics | University of Notre Dame ’23 |
